PROGRESS Wrestling is gearing up for the much-anticipated return of one of its most unique events, UNBOXING, with the seventh instalment set for Sunday, December 29th.

Unlike traditional wrestling events, UNBOXING is a mystery show where every match, every competitor, and every surprise is kept under wraps until the night itself. Fans come in with no knowledge of the card, making each entrance, match, and surprise appearance an exciting and intriguing reveal that has become a staple of the PROGRESS calendar.

UNBOXING’s History and Key Moments

Since its inception, UNBOXING has delivered some of the most memorable and unexpected moments in PROGRESS history, thanks to its unpredictable nature. Each year, the event has pushed boundaries, bringing a mix of debuts, shocking returns, and dream matches that only PROGRESS could deliver.

  1. UNBOXING 1 (2016) – The debut of the mystery concept immediately captivated fans, with standout performances from PROGRESS regulars and surprise appearances that set the tone for future shows. Pete Dunne fought Fabian Aichner, Kay Lee Ray wrestled Toni Storm and Zack Sabre Jr literally entered the Ballroom inside a box! The event left fans buzzing with the potential of what UNBOXING could bring in years to come.
  2. UNBOXING 2 (2017) – Highlights included a shocking appearance by then-WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne, who returned to the PROGRESS ring for a one-night-only match that raised the stakes for the mystery format. The show also saw dynamic bouts featuring top PROGRESS stars, headlined by Will Ospreay challenging for the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship, cementing UNBOXING as a must-attend event.
  3. UNBOXING 3 (2018) – Fans were treated to a surprise reunion of British Strong Style, with Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne facing off in a match that brought the house down. The energy in the Electric Ballroom was electric as these stars brought the intensity and nostalgia to the ring. Also on this card, Jordynne Grace battled Jinny for the PROGRESS Women’s World Championship!
  4. UNBOXING 4 (2019) – Known for its jaw-dropping surprises, this show featured a memorable Unboxing debut from Cara Noir, who would later go on to become one of PROGRESS’s most iconic champions. This UNBOXING instalment also saw a dream match between Kyle Fletcher and Ilja Dragunov!
  5. UNBOXING 5 (2022) – This show was main evented by new PROGRESS vs Old PROGRESS as Sunshine Machine defended their PROGRESS Tag Team Titles against the first time ever champions of FSU, Eddie Dennis and Mark Andrews. The passing of the torch was symbolic as the old shield Tag Championships were handed to the newly crowned winners.
  6. UNBOXING 6 (2022) – Last year, PROGRESS brought back live surprises to the Electric Ballroom with thrilling matches and unexpected cameos including the recently signed NXT superstar Yoshiki Inamura. Highlights included a hard-hitting main event between Kid Lykos and Eddie Dennis that paid tribute to the late, hilarious Mad Kurt.

Now, as we head toward UNBOXING 7: THE CURTAIN CALL on December 29th, anticipation is building. Who will walk through the curtain this time? Will there be a shocking title match, a dream singles bout, or the return of a fan-favourite? With each year raising the bar, fans know they’re in for an unforgettable night at the Electric Ballroom.
