Revolution Pro Wrestling are preparing for their first ‘big’ show in the north of England since 2022, while they have their eyes set on making sure it is not just a one-off.
RevPro head into the Doncaster Dome in October to deliver a Global Wars UK event alongside New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), and other international partners.
Sheffield is hosting six RevPro events this year, as part of a steady expansion into the South Yorkshire city.
The company’s owner, Andy Quildan, said he could begin “looking” at turning their Sheffield shows into a monthly endeavour, if the Doncaster Dome event sparks a growth in fans across the area.
He added: “When you run six shows a year, it’s very easy to put the focus on one show and do two months of build towards each show, the full card is there, and you’re just drilling it home… and that’s great, we’d love to do that. But, our problem is that we are constantly running shows.”
RevPro’s last major show in the north of England was Summer Sizzler 2022. It featured AEW’s PAC defending his All-Atlantic championship in the main event, as well as a crowning moment for Luke Jacobs against then-Cruiserweight champion Michael Oku.
NJPW duo Yota Tsuji and Shota Umino also battled for some 25 minutes.
Quildan said: “The thing we have built in London that we need to build elsewhere is faith in the product, because in London they know we are going to deliver. So, we can announce a show with four days to go, because they know it’s going to be a good show.”
The company’s founder honestly presents the problems he is facing as a promoter, battling the competing interests of fans from different parts of the country.
RevPro’s venture into the Doncaster Dome, a venue that now-defunct 1PW made famous, sends a statement of intent. The company’s bread and butter may be London, Southampton and Portsmouth, but their owner is looking to expand into the north of England too.
