Revolution Pro Wrestling are readying for a major show in one of England’s most historic wrestling venues.
The company is venturing into the Doncaster Dome, a building that carries with it many memories of 1PW, for the very first time.
In October, the company will bring their best talent, and headlining-grabbing names from further afield, to South Yorkshire.
RevPro owner Andy Quildan said: “It is a venue that is befitting of that calibre of show. It’s a beautiful venue, it’s got a history for wrestling, it’s perfect for wrestling, and there is clearly an appetite for wrestling there in Doncaster.”
It is the first Global Wars UK show since 2018, when Tomohiro Ishii ended Minoru Suzuki’s reign as the Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion. That show also included WALTER (now known as Gunther in WWE), Tetsuya Naito, Will Ospreay, Satoshi Kojima, and Chris Brookes, among a collection of varied talent.
Quildan said he wants to get the people of Doncaster “excited” and added: “The best way to put it is that Global Wars before was RevPro and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), the premise of that has not changed… but we are going to leverage our partnerships with other promotions to bring more talent, and make this the biggest Global Wars that we have ever done.”
That implies companies like CMLL and AEW could have some involvement in the show, given their recent collaborations with RevPro.
“The main representatives will be RevPro and NJPW, and then from there we will look to add. For most of the international talent on the show, it will be their first time appearing up north. It’s an exciting time, and an exciting opportunity,” Quildan said.
It is RevPro first ‘big’ show in the north of England, since Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse hosted Summer Sizzler 2022.
Quildan admitted: “You are overdue a big show up north with that marque name, and that’s where Global Wars UK comes in. Global Wars UK has not been seen since 2018, but it’s one of the most popular events we have ever produced.
“What we are doing with this show is saying ‘You asked for a big show’, and we’re giving you a big show. If you want to come out and support it, we will come back with many more.”
Tickets are currently in the presale phase, with Quildan confirming that card announcements will begin to be made before the end of August.
He said: “There is no reason for us not to come to Doncaster. It’s a fantastic venue and a fantastic site. We are coming all guns blazing.”
The show will take place on Saturday, October 19.
