As Scotland prepares for a historic weekend of sport, WWE’s very own Scottish Warrior, Drew McIntyre, was today inducted into The Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame for Scotland, at the stadium of his beloved football team, Rangers FC.
Drew McIntyre, otherwise known as The Scottish Warrior, was born and raised in Ayr, Scotland. The accolade was awarded by the Lord Provost of Glasgow City Council, Jacqueline McLaren, for his contribution to the sport. Drew has been credited as a pioneer of Scottish Wrestling, and has been called out as a Superstar that has revived the sport nationally, after it all but disappeared from Scotland in the 80s.
The Hall of Fame ceremony celebrates legendary wrestlers from WWE, with the likes of George Kidd, Frank Cullen and Drew McDonald being inducted in the past. Also attending the ceremony were the World’s Strongest Man, Tom Stoltman and WWE Superstar, Piper Niven.
Drew will be in the ring this weekend at the OVO Hydro, for SmackDown on Friday, and Scotland’s first ever Premium Live Event on Saturday, Clash At The Castle.
Friday Night SmackDown airs live from the Hydro Glasgow, Friday June 14th, tune in on TNT Sports. Clash at the Castle: Scotland airs live from the Hydro Glasgow, Saturday June 15th, tune in on the WWE Network and TNT Sports Box Office.
